In operation since 1935, Stovall’s Grove is one of those iconic rural roadhouses that are seldom encountered in this age of robotic buggy whips and gas lanterns that light themselves. I’m playing with John P. Williams. He and I were ardent proteges of “Big Mac”.

Happy Jack is a powerful dance tune in the key of C. The bow lick on the C-part makes it a hit for any high energy square dance. It’s also a genuine Mid-Missouri fiddle tune. Pete learned it from Clark Atterbury of Montgomery County.
